Message from the Opéra de Paris:

The performances of Manon and Yvonne, Princesse de Bourgogne scheduled for today, Saturday 29 February, have been cancelled.

Due to the continuation of the national strike movement against pension reform, which may be followed by certain members of Paris Opera staff, we endeavour to inform spectators as early as possible in case of disturbance or cancellation of performances.

Actually, this was a very late notification. Paris is in chaos.

  • John Borstlap says:

So, this merely means that Paris has returned to its normal state.

  • Rainer Herbers says:

Having been taken hostage by the protesters when announcing the shut down only ours before the performance I will certainly not waste my money on international travel expenses to go to Paris again. So let them go down the drain without me. Sorry for the reputational damage to Paris Opera, but there are better places to go in Europe nowadays.

  • Ravel says:

A law dating from the origin of the company allows until a half hour before performance time to announce whether they will or not perform.
