Benedetti gets to play the Grammys
mainThe Scottish violinist Nicola Benedetti will perform ahead of the GRAMMY Awards on January 26, streamed live via GRAMMY.com.
Benedetti is nominated for Best Classical Instrumental Solo (Marsalis: Violin Concerto) and Wynton Marsalis is nominated for Best Contemporary Classical Composition.
“Wynton Marsalis is nominated for Best Contemporary Classical Composition”. Well, that escalated quickly. I love Marsalis work as a blues/jazz player/arranger etc. Contemporary Classical composition is very far-fetched IMHO.
Have you heard the piece? (Honest question — I haven’t)
I love it. The Rhapsody alone is a glory.
Why because he is only capable of playing classical trumpet pieces not composing them? Someone who writes, not arranges but writes, original jazz compositions is not up to the challenges of a classical piece? Does that also apply to Gershwin & Ellington?
Wynton Marsalis – musical to the last atom in his body and HUGELY intelligent.
Wow, I actually don’t have to give you a thumbs down for this comment! This may be a first, Sue.
I’m finally able to sleep now!!
