The Pilharmonie de Paris has no show on Friday after Diana Damrau halted her Europe-wide Strauss recital tour.

Pour des raisons de santé, Diana Damrau est contrainte d’annuler sa venue, le concert est donc malheureusement annulé.

Her accompanist was to have been Sir Antonio Pappano.

Go see a good movie instead.

 

The Mayor of Lyon has named Richard Brunel to succeed Serge Dorny as the city’s opera chief. Brunel, 47, heads the national Centre Dramatique at Valence.

And it’s reliably reported that local hero Bertrand Rossi will be the next head of l’Opéra Nice Côte d’Azur (below), although there is still some local opposition.

Both appointments have been rubber-stamped by the Ministry of Culture. Neither will change the weather.

The Mexican conductor Alondra de la Parra has been picked to lead the first major classical TV event of the Christmas season in Germany.

She will direct the ZDF Adventskonzert on November 30 with the Saxon Staatskapelle and chorus and soloists Regula Mühlemann and Piotr Beczala.
