Netrebko’s next role will be Salome?
mainThat’s what Peter Gelb told a luncheon this week.
That little dance should be entertaining.

Ich fordre den Kopf des PEEETER GELB!
I want the head of Peeeter Geeeelb!
only if your name is Salome and you are a 15-years girl 😉
REALLY?? Have you taken a good look at it or what comes out of its mouth?
(Referring to Gelb, not Ms. Netrebko; I reserve any comment on her Salome until she’s done it. If nothing else, Anna won’t bore us.)
Without any command and interest in Strauss and german language? Her voice is too dark and heavy for Strauss silvery legato lines in between
Exactly
oy va voy!!!
oh grief!
She will WOBBLE her way through one of those demanding roles mastered by the great Luba Velich, and we will all feel queasy.
Why does she bother? Oh and for the mind numbing boredom of watching her on Russian TV.
Someone who really has nothing to say.
Pity she’s not blonde, at least we could understand her then being just another “dumb blonde”!
Funny I heard her in Aida and she certainly did not wobble her way through that! Interesting when we have the great voices with us how people criticise. I can remember them doing the same to Callas and Sutherland when they were with us. But now…..
Well, you don’t have to go if you have such a low opinion from your comfortable armchair! She is a singer not a racehorse!
Who on earth is “Luba Velich”?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ljuba_Welitsch
This is the soprano.
It has been announced several months ago as a partnership between the MET and the Bolschoi.
Maybe Tchaikovsky’s “Iolanta” should be put on her ‘to do’ list along with Andrea Boccelli as Count Vaudémont, the Burgundian knight – another case of the blind leading the blind ………
She did sing Iolanta a few seasons back at the Met and was broadcast in HD
Will she get her husband to do he dance? I know it tends to be a BOGOF deal with this duo.
Don’t do it Anna!!! Don’t let him use you like that!!
