Russian pianist plays on rubbish dump

The pianist Pavel Andreev has staged a recital on a St Petersburg garbage site to draw attention to the city’s ecological crisis.

 

Удивительное событие в моей жизни. 6 часов мы находились на свалке в окружении тонн мусора, тысяч чаек и зловонья. И в тоже время я увидел под своими ногами огромный ресурс. Когда же у нас появятся современные технологии переработки мусора, позволяющие вырабатывать энергию, электричество, вторсырье. А может появятся специальные ведра в каждом доме, куда выбрасываешь мусор и он превращается в чистую энергию и идёт на обогрев дома, например. Фантазии, а может реальность? В общем с мусором нужно что-то делать! Его очень много. И это не использованная энергия. Давайте что- нибудь сделаем! #pavelandreemusic #рояльнасвободе #рояльнапомойке

    How did he get the piano up there? Well, no surprise; when I lived in Moscow a decade ago, there was no hint of recycling. Though Russia is so vast, it shouldn’t really be lacking in landfill space.

      A cheap publicity stunt under the guise of caring for the environment. I wonder if the stench gave him inspiration. What some people won’t do to get noticed… Sad..
