David Hyslop has a new orchestra
mainAmerica’s busiest manager – formative chief in St Louis and Minnesota, now fireman to burned-out bands – has just joined the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra as interim chief executive.
David just loves running orchestras. He has been doing it for 53 years.
Bravo, David. You are the miracle worker.
Joel :
Thanks and congrats on you long career and a statue no less !
They’re doing the Mahler 8th in April. Long gone are the days when only the biggest orchestras could tackle such repertoire. Road trip!
I love it. Makes me want to go to S.D. just to see/hear it. I could always go see Mt. Rushmore in the process.
Dang, I live just over the border in Iowa. You are so right – **ROAD TRIP!!!**
(Assuming there isn’t a snow storm. April 8 is still pretty early.)
Be careful, Norman. When David was twenty-one he may have asked a female member of the flute section out on a date and actually told her she was “very pretty.” According to our latest SJW #MeThree standards, that’s outright sexual assault. Please don’t tell Mental Midgette at the WaPo.
Love it.
I’m sure you’re proud that, this time, it only took you two hours to come up with that comment.
Let me guess: you voted for cretin donald, right?
It’s come to the point in the ‘work place’ where it’s best to have a witness with you – if you’re a man talking to a woman – if you have anything more to say than just “hello” and “how are you today?”. I’m really not joking. Anything and everything can, as does, get misconstrued.
While true in some cases, Sioux Falls is not burned out. In fact, it has had a remarkable turnaround in fortunes under Jennifer Boomgaarden. She now moves on to Omaha, which is also in a strong position. Undoubtedly, Jennifer will make it stronger.
David, my friend, if you keep at it, pretty soon you will have hit all 50 states as ED!! God bless you! SD is lucky to have you; David G does fabulous there; he’s brought great programs to the Sioux Falls community.
