Former concert pianist? Well…. mercifully he had other talents.
He recorded the Dvorak concerto with Bernstein, no less!
You might mean the Schumann Concerto…
Also the Dvorak , on CBS, with the NYPO. A curious piece.
I was at the 1984 concert in which Frantz played the Schumann with LB. He replaced AndrĂ¡s Schiff at the last minute. It would have been a much better performance but Lenny conducted superbly. I still remember the celli sound in the second movement.
