BGT had Paul Potts and AGT had Neal Boyd. Whatever we may think of the show’s format / approach this is sad news indeed. RIP Neal Boyd.
I never heard him, but reading his obit saw that he had studied music both at University and at the New England Conservatory of Music, and had had a Carnegie Hall recital years and years before America’s Got Talent. More interestingly, he was driven to get into opera by hearing The Three Tenors. Isn’t that what we always wish for when someone previously unexposed to the music gets drawn to it by an introduction? He was clearly never going to give Kaufman any scares, but just the fact of his embracing opera is a win.
