Seoul is shortlisting music directors
mainThe new chief exec of the storm-tossed Seoul Philharmonic is presenting a return to normalcy.
‘The orchestra has recently initiated discussions over a six-candidate list. I would like to finalize the list and have a new music director appointed by the end of this year,’ said Kang Eun-kyung at her first press conference.
Kang, who took the job in March, promises full consultation with the musicians. There are also vacancies for artistic adviser and composer-in-residence, after Unsuk Chin was fired in January.
The orchestra will make its first Europe tour for four years in November.
