I call it a treat.
It is absolutely wonderful that more and more musicians are turning to this beautiful, honest and sincere music! However, with all due respect: many people have thought of something like this (and much more!) long before:
In 2008 I have been privilleged to conduct all 5 Mendelsson Symphonies on one evening in Koblenz, Germany, albite with two orchestras, to share the workload.
We started the evening at 17.00 with Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie with Symphonies 1, 3 & 5 and after a light dinner break with some glorious wine from the region, which Mendelssohn adored and frequntly visited, we continued at 20.00 with Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland Pfalz performing Symphonies number 4 and 2 with wonderful Dom Cathedral Choir from Mainz and great vocal soloists.
An unforgetable experience for myself and for the audience!
