DC press flak lands opera desk in Texas
mainMichael Solomon, who was until recently Senior Press Representative for the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, has been named Director of Audience Experience of Austin Opera, Texas.
The newly created position is financed by an Opera America Innovation Grant.
Guess we’ll be hearing good things out of Austin.
This is hardly a step up, not even a sideways move.
Well, perhaps he wants to live in Austin.
Or perhaps he can no longer afford an apartment in DC on what the Kennedy Center pays. The real estate market in DC isn’t quite as bad as San Francisco’s, but it’s getting there.
By the way, the correct term is “flack,” not “flak.” “Flak” refers to projectiles fired by anti-aircraft guns. The headline sounds like the DC press corps fired at him, forcing him to make an emergency landing in Texas.
