Bravo, Nicolas! French wind players seem to be getting into all the major European orchestras (not just wind players; there’s also the principal cellist of the Berlin Philharmonic). Music teaching here must be doing something right.
Solfege gets them of to a great start in France.
Tim. I don’t know if this is meant to be ironical! The kids hate solfege and a lot of them quit music because they’re forced to do it and can’t stand it. There’s no music, to speak of, in French schools. Children start out in local conservatories and tuition is rather expensive.
Sad for followers of the Bournemouth Orchestra, who have had the pleasure of listening to his fine playing ove the past ?3 seasons.
