Now London names a concertmaster of 24
mainKevin Lin was passing through London with the Curtis Symphony last Friday when he learned that he had won the position of co-leader with the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
Kevin, 24, graduates this summer and will join the LPO in August.
How is this possible? Mr Lin is not from the EU.
Why shouldn’t it be possible?
Ask a Remainer.
Not advisable. The lengthy moaning and breast beating would probably make your eyes glaze over.
In that case, it would be best to keep clear of the topic altogether.
Having had the privilege of being informed (involuntarily and abundantly) on Brexit-opinions held by both, members of the pro- and anti-groups, I can tell you that both sides are equally skilled at making your eyes glaze over with their lengthy moaning, jawing and breast-beating/chest-thumping.
You must be fun at parties. ‘Yeh, let’s invite Maria, she brings Brexit into every conceivable topic of conversation, people love that.’
The orchestra is not from the EU anymore either…
In the U.S. you could get a E-1 visa as an “alien of extraordinary merit.” I assume the UK has a similar visa. I know American footballers have sometimes had trouble getting working permits to play in the Premiere League, but in this case, if you actually audition and beat out all comers, it’s hard to argue you don’t deserve it.
Good for the LPO. Kevin Lin is a fabulous violinist, and a very fine person. I wish them both great success.
