Maestro move: New conducting professor at IU
mainThe elite Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University has filled its vacant Chair of Orchestral Conducting.
Bloomington’s new professor is Thomas Wilkins, music director of the Omaha Symphony.
Announcement here.
Maestro Wilkens is a gentleman and fine conductor. See my interview with him: https://youtu.be/shEi9O_1Lmw
“…elite Jacobs School of Music…” A fine school, no doubt, but with double the number of students of most of the largest peer schools, it’s a bit much to call it elite.
