A small correction. Thomas Wilson’s Confessions of a Justified Sinner was given its premiere in 1976 – not 1975.
David Amram’s birth year is 1930, not 1940.
Even a fanatic like me cannot claim to have seen more than 5% from this list.
And yet so few have entered the repertoire. The ability to write successful opera is one of the rarest human abilities. Why is that?
