This is Patricia Kopatchinskaya in the Konzarthaus Berlin last night. After playing the Schumann concerto, she offered as an encore a new suite written by the conductor Ivan Fischer – and from an unexpected position.
The audience seem happy. Ivan certainly was.

Saturday night at Berlin Philharmonie, Alina Pogostkina after playing Profkofjev Violinconcerto No. 1 invited leader of Deutsches Symphonie Orchester Berlin Wei Lu for a duet encore.
I love Pat Kop. Brilliant musician, lovely woman, freethinker. I’m sure the usual arbiters of social behavior are already getting their knickers in a twist.
You know, after Brexit and Trump, and now some violinist sits down for her encore… I don’t think I can take this anymore.
She is one of the few violinists one would cross the street to but a ticket .Always interesting………….
She’s great, this is hardly ground breaking stuff though. Anyway how are you? You seem to be keeping a very low profile of late…
