Georgian wins HK piano contest
mainResults of the commendably transparent Hong Kong International Piano Competition:
1. Mr. Luka Okrostsvaridze (Georgia) – known as Luka Okros and a student at London’s Royal College of Music
2. Mr. Jeong-Hyun Yoon (South Korea)
3. Mr. Andrey Dubov (Russia)
4. Mr. Hin Yat Tsang (Hong Kong)
5. Ms. Lin Zi Pan (China)
6. Ms. Yedam Kim (South Korea)
Another child prodigy being “prepared” for the great career at an early age. He looks as if he’d rather play But perfect pitch.
And for the competition – ex oriente lux?
I’m not at all surprised by this result. I saw Luka Okros play at the Norah Sande competition in Eastbourne, UK in July (which he won). I thought then that he was one of the most exciting new pianistic talents I have seen in a long while, and I hope he has a major career!
Let’s remember he is a student of Norma Fisher. No small thing. A worthy winner.
