Brit quartet reaches Banff final
mainBanff in Canada is where young string quartets head for high noon.
This year’s finalists are:
Rolston String Quartet (Canada)
Castalian String Quartet (UK)
Tesla Quartet (Russia / South Korea / USA)
Watch the final tonight streamed liveĀ here.

Ah yes, unfortunately only third place for the Castalian. Anybody notice the connections between the Canadian quartet that won (the Rolston) and the jury members, not to mention the Executive Director, Barry Shiffman?
would you care to elaborate?
In the regrettable absence (as far I could note here) of any other reference to the outcome of this competition, read music critic Bill Rankin’s thorough and balanced summary of the proceedings, from La Scena Musicale: http://myscena.org/bill-rankin/bisqc-canadian-rolston-quartet-takes-top-prize/.
