Social: Soprano marries son of Salman
mainAuthor Salman Rushdie missed the world premiere of his first opera, Shalimar the Clown, in St Louis, it’s reported.
He had to be in New York that day for the wedding of son Zaf to London soprano Natalie Coyle.
We wish the family much happiness.
So, you disregard “Haroun and the Sea of Stories” performed at New York City Opera in 2004 altogether, do you Norman? Not sure why. It was a very good opera and deserves revival. But that was surely Rushdie’s first opera.
Let’s try that again: So, you disregard “Haroun and the Sea of Stories” by Charles Wuorinen, performed at New York City Opera in 2004 altogether, do you Norman? Not sure why. It was a very good opera and deserves revival. But that was surely Rushdie’s first opera.
Incompetent text editing on my part removed the composer in the first attempt – apologies!
