Yannick undergoes surgery
mainWe reported yesterday that the Canadian conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin had cancelled a high-profile festival date with the Berlin Philharmonic due to what was described as ‘a short-term condition’ that required medical treatment.
The Philadelphia Orchestra have now let it be known that Yannick was taken to hospital following Sunday’s performance of Mahler’s eighth symphony and underwent surgery on Monday for an epigastric hernia.
He will be out for 3-4 weeks.
We wish him better.
I wish him a prompt recovery. I’d like to see him here in Brazil.
That is probably because in the 1st movement, on page 13 of the score, the horns are encouraged to play the fortissimo ‘Mit grösstem Epigast’.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery
Ticciati, Yannick…
