Meloclassic have come up with this wonderful picture of James Dean…. with the austere German pianist Walter Gieseking. The date is uncertain, either 1951 or 1954.

    I have one with Zsa Zsa Gabor. During one of our visits at her home, she introduced me to a Hungarian lady who took care of her in Hungary when the Gabors were quite young. This was in 1988. The lady was a piano pupil of Ernst von Dohnanyi and knew her music.

    The term “classical” has always been difficult to define, but including Irving Berlin in that category stretches it to nearly meaningless extreme.
