Korean wins Operalia’s zarazuela award

Hyesang Park soprano (South Korea) has been announced as the female zarzuela winner.

Ioan Hotea tenor (Romania) won the male award.

    Hyesang Park was the outstanding female competitor in the zarzuela competition and one of two outstanding female competitors in the opera competition (the other being the winner of the first prize and audience prize, Lise Davidsen).

    That photo screencap is from this terrific masterclass where Park sang for Fleming – the first livestreamed masterclass ever from Juilliard.

    Fleming spent an unusual amount of time with Park. It was very clear she was special.
