Cecilia Bartoli gets her own orchestra

The Italian mezzo-soprano tells Il Giornale: ‘In Monte Carlo I have been asked to start an orchestra, Les musiciens de Prince. We will start in 2016.’

She is probably the top-selling classical artist still in the prime of her career, with well over ten million albums sold on Decca. Her Vivaldi alone sold 1m, followed by Sacrificium with 700,000.

She talks wistfully of cutting a disc with Sting.

  • Just a little nitpicking: “Les musiciens du Prince” (“The Prince’s musicians”), not “de Prince” (“of Prince”).
