Bayreuth to BR: Send another journalist
mainNow that Katie Wagner has sole command on the hill, she can do as she likes. It’s being reported that she agreed to give one radio interview to the public broadcaster about the forthcoming Tristan und Isolde production. But then she decided she didn’t like the interviewer and had the press office tell BR to send another.
So another example of ‘Hausverbot’. The sheer arrogance of that family and its henchmen is simply breathtaking. The German expression ‘ Hochmut kommt vor dem Fall’ would seem appropriate.
Considering the supporting organization of the Bayreuther Festspielhaus as well as the Bayreuth Festival is the Richard-Wagner-Stiftung Bayreuth, with a foundation council holding a total of 24 voting rights (only 4 of which are allotted to the Wagner family), I’d say the the Wagners’ arrogance is trumped by the remaining council’s inability or unwillingness to bridle Family & Co.’s obduracy.
I hope that BR refused !!!
She’s on her own right.
Since when does one have to give an interview to a journalist one dislikes?
