Just in: Englishman to lead Bavarian Radio chorus
mainThe chorus of Bayerische Rundfunk has named Howard Arman as its new artistic director, starting mid-2016. Howard, 61, is presently music director at the Lucerne theatre and symphony orchestra. He succeeds Peter Dijkstra.
I saw his La Cenerentola at the Luzerner Theater about a year ago. Rock solid, no nonsense, opera conducting. He really understands singers. Held everything together with the ultimate professionalism. BR made a good choice.
Fabulous musician. Intelligent, erudite, scholarly, and a fine composer, arranger and pianist. Deep interest in the music of the Stolters. His Christmas Day concerts at the Gewandhaus were brilliant.
Congrats to Howard, my former colleague at Leipzig MDR.
A wonderful, fine musician, full of great musical ideas and with an enormous knowledge of the repertoire, not only for chorus.
A wise and great choice from BR.
Definitely!!
This is great news
HURRAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!! 🙂
