Chicago Symphony mourns 41-year oboe stalwart
mainRichard Kanter, who played oboe in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s from 1961 until 2002, died at the weekend, aged 79. With John de Lancie as one of his teachers, he was appointed to the orch by Fritz Reiner and lasted through to the Barenboim era.
