Talent switch: Yuja joins Dude’s boutique
mainWe hear that Yuja Wang, the sought-after Chinese pianist, is leaving her Opus3 agent, Earl Blackburn, to join London-based Fidelio Artists as its first instrumentalist.
Fidelio, run by Mark Newbanks, looks after three conductors: Gustavo Dudamel, Esa-Pekka Salonen and Lionel Bringuier.
Yuja works regularly with the first two.
In fact she works regularly with the first three, latest with Bringuier on his high profile first season’s opening in Zürich…
Agree. She plays regularly with Lionel Bringuier and they are a very exciting pair of artists to watch together – a particularly dynamic combination! It was Bringuier conducting at Yuja’s famous “little orange dress” debut at Hollywood Bowl!
When asked how it was to be conducting an artist in such an outfit, Bringuier, always the perfect French gentleman, replied gallantly “The dress. . . well, yes, it WAS very short!”
I believe they are the same age and it looks like they have a comfortable friendship offstage as well as in concert. It’s quite a treat to see them perform together!
Such an act of disloyalty. Earl Blackburn has worked his tail off on behalf of Yuja since she was an unknown student at Curtis.
And you are surprised? It seems you don’t know Ms Wang in person…
Newbanks is perfect for her.
Au contraire, my friend: I do know Yuja. No doubt, she’ll eat him for breakfast…
maybe now she’ll play in the nude
The last dress I saw her perform in left virtually nothing to the imagination
This sounds like the perfect solution: since the audience’s visual imagination has nothing to do, there is a better chance that they will finally turn their aural perception on for a change.
What did you imagine? And why?
