Foreign Minister takes podium in orchestra open day
UncategorizedFrank-Walter Steinmeier threw open his foreign ministry yesterday to the Deutsches Sinfonie Orchester Berlin and 400 amateur musicians, aged seven to 82.
They played through sections of Beethoven’s ninth with the helpful pros. At one stage, mounting the podium, it looked like the Foreign Minister was about to grab the baton from conductor Manuel Nawri and change the tempo.
But he proved too diplomatic for that.
Watch news report here.
Actually, it was the foreign ministry’s “open day”, and the DSO organised a flash mob as part of the festivities. Nevertheless nice that slipped disc picked up the story.

… but sadly for Herr Steinmeier, the orchestra had to explain that performing his favourite tune has been banned in Germany since 1945…
Oh, what a delightfully funny and witty remark!

Sorry to say, but I fail to see the point you are trying to make with this clip. You suggested that Steinmeyer’s “favourite tune has been banned in Germany since 1945”. The only tune that fits this description is the “Horst-Wessel-Lied” http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horst-Wessel-Lied
I’m not a particular fan of Mr. Steinmeyer’s, but I wonder whether you have any clue at all what you have been posting here.
On the contrary, there is nothing “funny” about Herr Steinmeier at all. Quite the opposite.
