British tenor sweeps four early music prizes
UncategorizedRupert Charlesworth, 27, has cleaned up at the Innsbruck early music competiion. He took the main prize, the audience award and two other special awards. An Italian soprano, Giulia Semenzato, came second.
Not living in the UK any longer, I’ve missed hearing Rupert Charlesworth until now. He’s a formidable talent, with a fine vocal technique and exquisite musicality – and a charmingly direct and unmannered style.
