Since the BBC has gone into lockdown mode over the Rolf Harris conviction and the only place I could discuss its neglected responsibility was on Sky News, let’s just reflect for a minute on this sketch from Not the Nine O’Clock News. Watch, and wonder. Who knew?

    The 1994 spoof announcement of Savile’s death was similarly revealing on BBC Radio 1. Savile sued,and complained that it had ruined his Christmas. It alluded to the patients of Stoke Mandeville being pleased about the news.

    1. When was the sketch precisely written and filmed? 2. Were sketchwriter’s intentions really just over-the-top-wise or a, only by insiders precisely understood, reaction on (possible) rumours about Harris’ dirty behaviour behind the scenes?

    Art reflecting life…they were all at it! There’s a spine-chilling BBC Christmas trailer from about 1980 on YouTube somewhere where Rolf Harris, dressed as Charles Dickens, opens the door to a big doll’s house and lets in all the children…
