Max Reger’s organ is struck by lightning
mainThe church organ of the Marktkirche in Wiesbaden has been severely damaged by a lightning strike. Built in 1863, the organ was played by the composer Max Reger and the humanitarian Albert Schweizer, both of whom lived in the town.
And for those who believe it never happens, this is the second time lightning has struck the church in the past four years.
It sounds from the report as though it was not an actual hit on the church, but an electrical surge due to lightning that fried some thing in the computer that controls the organ’s electronics.
