Dreadful news: Festival founder commits suicide, aged 41
mainWe regret to report the death of Thierry Scherz, founder and artistic director of the Sommets Musicaux in Gstaad, Switzerland, and a popular figure in the internatioal music business.
His family have announced that Thierry took his life in Vienna, ‘in a moment of depression’.
The funeral is Thursday, in Gstaad.
A brilliant mind, a wonderful personality, and the genius who succeeded in running a beautiful chamber music series in Gstaad, Saanen and Rougemont in winter for ten years. An excellent record producer, a supporter of young musicians, one of the most creative people I ever met.

Thierry was such a wonderful man! When I went to Gstaad to sing, he welcomed me in the most sensitive, respectful and warm way. We stayed in touch afterwards. I am so saddened by this news. I will never forget him.
