Casting news: Meryl Streep to play Callas in TV Masterclass
mainThe New York Post’s Page Six says the Hollywood actor who played Margaret Thatcher has been signed as Maris Callas in the HBO version of Terrence McNally’s play, Master Class. Mike Nichols will direct.
The play recreates a class Callas gave at Juilliard in 1971.
The singers are on the left.
This is exciting news indeed! I can think of no better actress to bring La Divina to life.
I reserve judgement until I see it. The potential IS there for something very special.
Hell, if she can play Julia Child she should be able to do Maria Callas.
