New York’s new Brit stick subs for sick maestro
mainCourtney Lewis, recently named assistant conductor of the New York Phil, will take over the Houston concerts of Spanish maestro Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos. Frühbeck, 80, fell ill while conducting the National Symphony Orch at the weekend and is in frail condition.
Houston will probably be as excited by young Maestro Lewis as were audiences, orchestra and management in Jacksonville, FL, where he made a tremendous impression conducting Wagner, Dvorak and Rachmaninoff last week . An extremely gifted conductor and a pleasing public persona!
