Covent Garden picks 3 Aussies, 1 Ukrainian, 1 Brit
mainNew placements have been announced for the coveted Jette Parker Young Artists Programme at the ROH.
The five lucky candidates are: Australian soprano Lauren Fagan (pictured), Australian baritone Samuel Johnson, British bass James Platt, Australian tenor Samuel Sakker and Ukrainian bass-baritone Yuriy Yurchuk. They were chosen from some 390 applicants in 58 countries.
Don’t care to mention whom they chose to the repetiteur programme? Once again, nobody cares about the ones who do all the work actually..
Well said, 106.
Good point. Repetiteurs are unsung heroes (though “all the work” is an overstatement).
It would be a better point if it weren’t for the fact that the music staff auditions haven’t happened yet!!
Idiotic. Do some research. “The Jette Parker Young Artists Programme also offers positions for music staff; auditions for music staff positions for the 2014 intake will be held at the end of January.” – http://www.roh.org.uk/news/five-new-singers-to-join-the-jette-parker-young-artists-programme-in-september-2014. Mr Lebrecht’s talents are many but perhaps even he might not claim clairvoyance?
But who will take notice of it and report it? My money’s on no-one…
