Alan Gilbert student rises in Dallas

Karina Canellakis has been appointed assistant conductor with the Dallas Symphony, starting next year. She graduated from Alan Gilbert’s class at Juilliard and was formerly guest concertmaster at the Bergen Philharmonic in Norway, where ex-Dallas chief Andrew Litton is music director.
