Because he’s not an actor you dipstick.
Well said. No one can beat David Tennant.
I think Lucy you’ve missed Norman’s subtle humour, and Norman is far from being a dipstick 🙂 If anything, when I saw Bostridge live at the Aldeburgh Festival one year doing Die Schöne Müllerin, he was all acting and not much else as you hadly hear him in those days in Snape Maltings! We all thought he was going to fall off the edge of the platform too for at one point he sang with his feet over the edge!
I have to say that I DO appreciate NL’s sense of humour. Nice one, Norman! 🙂
NL may be on to something here. After all, was Wikipedia has it: “He received his D.Phil from Oxford in 1990, on the significance of witchcraft in English public life from 1650 to 1750.” Not entirely inappropriate for the TV series.

I remember doing a concert with him at Thaxted when we were both with YCAT and he disappeared in the middle of the rehearsal because he was off checking out gravestones for this doctorate! I had to go and find him! He gave me a lift a home after and told me about it when it was little known he was doing it. That must have been round about 1989.
is that harry birtwistle coming out the fire?
Or Jordi Savall?!
