‘A farewell?’ I checked.
‘Pah!’ said Charley.
She’s performing the first of three shows tonight at the Chatelet, in Paris. Bonne anniversaire to the performer who was Madonna, before anyone imagined Madonna. Ah, those hands, those expressive hands!
