A shout of release for the Chilean miners (new video)
mainThe story of the Chilean miners trapped underground for 17 days has been made into a concert oratorio by composer James McCarthy. It makes a lovely noise and will be premiered on February 5 at the Barbican by the Crouch End Festival Chorus. Watch first rehearsal video here.
Correction – it was more like 70 days than 17.
The title 17 Days refers to the time the miners spent trapped underground before they were discovered. Hope you will join us for an amazing premiere on 5 February.
The miners became trapped on 5th August 2010 7kn underground. For 17 days, nothing was heard from them as frantic rescue efforts went on but in the 17th day, a probe sent down deep into the earth came back with a note attached to it, saying that all 33 miners were alive and safe.
