David Cameron on anti-semitism – the speech they don't want you to hear
mainThe Prime Minister, speaking at the Community Security Trust yesterday, said:
– I’m particularly mindful of the sickening way that the Jewish people have been targeted for centuries
– It shames our country that our Jewish schools should need protection. But they do.
– it is absolutely wrong that in any of our universities there should be an environment where students are scared to express their Judaism or their Zionism freely. It is absolutely wrong that universities should allow speakers to spread messages of anti-Semitism and hate.
– it’s possible – and necessary – to have more than one loyalty in life.
To be a proud Jew, a committed Zionist and a loyal British citizen.
And to realise there is no contradiction between them.
– A Jewish friend asked me the other day will it be safe for my children and grandchildren to live here?

I am glad that this renewal of anti-Semitism is finally being addressed. I was gobsmacked to see it rise from the grave, like some decayed corpse and proceed to become respectable again. In some circles, any thing and everything evil is now attributed to the Jews – even their defending themselves against suicide bombers and endless rockets is considered wrong. I don’t know if the genie can be put back in the bottle but this increasing attack on Jews has to be looked at in an honest fashion and stopped as much as possible.
He says “But when equally unacceptable views or practices come from someone who isn’t white, we’ve been too cautious – frankly even fearful – to stand up to them.”
And yet, as you point out, it isn’t carried on the Conservative Party website.
It’s an amazing statement – this speech, hearkening back to Benjamin Disraeli who was PM well before modern Israel, but whose life was concurrent for about twenty years with the life of Theodor Herzl – founder of the Zionist movement. Cameron is truly speaking with his mind and heart, and this is exceedingly rare, in any constructive sense, among the political scene today.
The salient question is NOT why the speech is not up on government or politcal websites, but why is it NOT on any mainstream media websites?
