We hear that Teng Li, principal viola of the Toronto Symphony, has won the audition.

She replaces the expressive Carrie Dennis, who disappeared early last year.

That leaves Toronto with two section vacancies, as Kent Teeple is retiring after 40 years.

Teng Li is a fabulous player. Lucky LA.

The Violas have 3 vacancies after Mrs. Li and Mr. Teeple are gone. Eric Nowlin, the former assistant principal viola, left last season to be principal in Detroit and that vacancy has not been filled.

“Carrie Dennis, who disappeared early last year”…
Highly intriguing, but a websearch reveals her possible whereabouts in the “Heifetz Institute, 2018 Viola faculty”.

Couldn’t agree more with Anthony. Teng Li is a magnificent player and colleague, both virtuoso and intelligent musician. Great news for LA.

Kent Teeple retired after 41 seasons.
