I enjoy Jonas Kaufmann very much when he has sung in the United States. I had planned a trip to New York to hear him in Manon Lescaut and was very disappointed when he cancelled..Agroup of us had made all the arrangements for the trip from Chicago only to be disappoined. Can U tell me if an when he is scheduled to sing in the US at some future dates?

Hope this helps.
He is riding high right now – no need to come back to NY. He might be surprised at the feeling of many NY opera folk. He also has a group of fanatical fans who follow him across the continent – en masse in Vienna. If he read some of things they write about him he’d might seek refuge in NY.
This prize was over-awarded in the 1980s & 90s. It is once again a prestigious honor. Is there anything he hasn’t won? 2015 was a phenomenal year for him. However, it may have been TOO much as he was ill and didn’t appear for 87 days, the longest break in his career. He has said he is reducing the number of new opera productions to 2 or 3 a year and will be concentrating more on lieder and concerts. He has been quite honest in saying they pay better for the amount of effort required. He has no announced US or Canadian appearances and I doubt there will be any opera performances here in the foreseeable future. His calendar is kept full mostly in Europe. He likes appearing before “new” audiences and is going to South America in August. There is also a return tour to Japan in November and he is singing at the Nobel Prize ceremony in Sweden.
Personally, I had tickets to 6 of his performances in US the last 2 years – all cancelled for sickness. So, the mountain is going to….I have tickets to 4 performances in Europe June & July, including the historic Das Lied von der Erde concerts in Vienna & Paris. He is singing both parts – all 6 songs. Das große Ganze https://www.musikverein.at/monatszeitung/artikel_im_pdf.php?artikel_id=1869 Guess that makes me one of the fanatics – Kaufmanniacs.
