NEC department head dies

Samuel H. Adams Jr, who has died aged 84, taught at New England Conservatory’s Preparatory School, becoming director of the School of Continuing Education as well as director of the summer school and chair of the school’s piano faculty.

He passed away eight days after his partner, Scott Ashley.

Sorry to hear, but he is once again with his partner, after a brief separation.
My mother and father died less than 24 hours apart.

Sam was a valued collegeague by all in both Prep and Continuing Ed faculty at NEC. Many students benefitted from his teaching and mentorship. He is missed.
