He’s replacing Jeremy Geffen, who left early this year. There is not an analogy that can to properly describe how miserable it is to work at the BSO.
How is it that administration employees of struggling ensembles nearly always seem to manage to employ upwardly ?? Not saying that he is in any way the BSOs problem, but when the ship is taking on major water people seek dry ground.
Ab is also a very talented violist. It’s good to see performing musicians in administrative roles. He will definitely be an asset to Carnegie Hall. Baltimore’s loss.
Ab Sengupta is a superlative musician, a kind and farsighted administrator, and one of the reasons (along with Karen Hendricks) that Da Camera of Houston functioned like a well oiled machine for so long. Carnegie is getting a phenomenal person added to their artistic administration roster.
