US orchestra names Lebanese music director
mainFouad Fakhouri has been named music director of the Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra this week.
He succeeds Brett Mitchell, who left in 2014, and has only conducted the Michigan orchestra once, during auditions.
Fakhouri, 43, is presently music director in Fayetteville.
Is he America’s first Lebanese baton?
There were 197 applicants for the vacancy.
