Menahem Pressler: The Lebrecht Interview
RIPEleven years ago, Menahem Pressler flew to London overnight from the US and was driven three hours to Aldeburgh, where I awaited him. He was almost 90 and entitled to be a little tired.
I suggested we postpone the interview while he caught up on sleep. Menahem wouldn’t hear of it.
When we finished, he was fresher than I.
