The Gazprom-funded conductor Teodor Currentzis will be strutting his stuff at the oligarch-backed Baden-Baden Festival at the end of the month.

He will perform, with the German state-funded SWR orchestra, bleeding chunks of Wagner.

Plus, a late addition, ‘a musical reflection on Wagner by the Ukrainian-Russian composer Alexei Retinski, “The water has no hair”‘.

Oh, really?

Retinsky, 36, was born in Crimea and studied in Kyiv, Zurich and Graz. He describes himself as an Austrian composer of Russian and Ukrainian origin. He works mainly in electronic media. Currentzis’ attempt to connect him to the Putin war is phoney.

    Spineless waffling!

  • I beg your pardon says:

The water isn’t the only thing that has no hair, according to that photo of Currentzis.

    • Melisande says:

That is a photo of the composer, Alexei Retinsky, not the conductor. If you search for pictures of him you’ll see he still has hair.

  • Nik_f says:

Teodor Currentzis a deceitful hypocrite who wants to receive huge finances in Putin’s, barbaric Russia and European recognition in the civilized world!
