Just in: Bayreuth replaces its Dutchman, again

The festival says the Swedish baritone John Lundgren has withdrawn from the Flying Dutchman ‘for personal reasons’. He did the same last year.

He will be replaced by the stellar Michael Volle – an upgrade, some say. Volle (pic) was last heard there as Hans Sachs in Meistersinger.
