As a licence payer I think this is terrible. Also why keep the executives? Maybe if they were featured on tv more, would be more popular. Also paying huge salaries to Gary Linekar and others is not cost effective.

  • tramonto says:

I had a fleeting hope that the headline meant an actual protest. We’ve grown too accustomed to the more facile online petitions – then promptly forgetting about things – so much so that the targets of the “protest” have grown increasingly inured to them. An actual protest on the streets for a classical ensemble: now, THAT would be a sight to behold.

  • Virginia Pollard says:

Presumably keeping the executives means that they intend to hire singers for gigs on a freelance basis. This means no pension or NI liabilities and more instability for the workers involved. It is no way the same as having an in- house ensemble and that a flagship National Broadcaster thinks this is ok is unbelievable.

  • Tony Sanderson says:

Can we have a vote on sacking sports commentators airing their political views and whether sacking the latest offender, which would save £1.6 million pounds pa when some struggle to make ends meet, would be sufficient to save the BBC Singers.

My vote would go to saving BBC Singers.

    • Antwerp Smerle says:

Lineker’s salary equates to £80k p.a. for each of the 20 members of the BBC Singers. I guess they would settle for that?

  • Herbert Alperto says:

Is this where I sign the petition to save the Ray Conniff Singers?!?

  • trumpetherald says:

    Signed and shared!!!!!!
