The French centreback Dayot Upamecano had a difficult debut season at Bayern Munich. After each game he would suffer severe laryngitis after shouting himself hoarse during the match.

But in Munich they knew how to deal with the problem.

A singer was called in from the Staatstoper to provide vocal training.

Dayot is now studying Queen of the Night.

Cool story, except how can the blog post say “a singer from the Staatsoper” when the Daily Mirror article specifically and clearly states “Upamecano enlisted the help of an opera singer from Leipzig” at the very top of the article?

There were these wonderful stories about prisoners in Naples and their relatives communicating by song, as the voice travels so much better. We are all weeeell! Your sister is pregnaaaant! And of course a Neapolitan play like Saturday, Sunday, and Monday is only possible if they sing rather than shout abuse at each other — otherwise, they would be hoarse by Saturday evening.
